Circumventing eBay - We’re going to get this script sold!

Anyone who’s been following the saga of the A.K.A. script knows we’ve been trying to get the thing on eBay throughout this week. Long story short…eBay says that selling scripts is a copyright violation and against its rules. Very ironic, since we’ve already sold several to raise funds for this effort.

Anyway- this evening, we’ve been looking into how to auction off the script, and the first thought was to do a live auction right here in the SJA chat room.  After digging around, I found a plug-in that will allow us to do an eBay-style auction. You’ll see it on the right (if you’re logged in), if not it looks like this:

Click on it, and you’ll see a window that is very similar in style (information-wise) to what you get with an eBay auction:

Before we do this for real, I’d like to do a test, so I need as many of you as are willing to place bids on the test auction. Obviously, none of it is for real, so go nuts. Let’s just work the bugs out.

And remember, eventually you’ll be bidding on this:

We’ll fire the real auction up after we’ve had some time to test.

Thanks! Rubberpoultry

A message from Jericho writer Robbie Thompson (Writer Episode 18 “A.K.A.”)

Robbie Thompson is a name many of us may not know, although he worked on both seasons of Jericho in the writer’s room. Over the last month plus, I’ve gotten to know Robbie, and like so many others in the Jericho family, he’s an amazing guy.

Robbie started out as a writers’ assistant, and on Episode 18 (AKA), Carol Barbee gave him the reins to craft the story. This episode showed us Robert and Darcy Hawkins in love, the beginning of Jake’s and Hawkins’ relationship in those intense scenes in the basement, and who could forget Mimi and the chicken?

Robbie was kind enough to donate a signed script (which also includes signatures from Jon Steinberg, Matt Federman, and Steve Scaia) for the effort to raise funds to get the ad back on the air. He also wanted to share a few words with everyone:

“Hey, Robbie Thompson here. I just wanted to say thank you all for everything you’ve done for Jericho. I’m so proud to be a part of this show’s legacy - a legacy that simply would not exist without your creativity, hard work and belief in the show. You made television history - twice! First by bringing the show back from the dead, and again by creating the first ever fan created television ad. I’m just blown away by the quality and craftsmanship of the work Jason did on the ad, and I hope auctioning off this signed copy of Episode 18, “A.K.A.” will help raise the necessary funds to get your amazing ad back on the air and keep the fight to save Jericho alive. Thanks again, Robbie Thompson”

Thanks, Robbie. We appreciate all that you’ve done for Jericho and its fans!

Jericho’s newest fan arrives - Baby Poultry is born!

There are some moments in life that are indescribable. Tonight, I experienced one of those when I saw my baby girl for the first time. That moment, and the moment when her mommy first held her, will forever be etched in my mind as something so special, words haven’t been created yet to describe them.

The best thing about being a Jericho fan is being part of such an incredible community. So many of you have shared well wishes and happy thoughts to my wife and I over the last few days via e-mail, Facebook, and over the phone. Many of you knew that we were going in for an induction Thursday, July 24. Well, turns out we didn’t exactly need the induction. Michele gave birth totally on her own with no drugs or anything to get it going. No epidural either! OUCH!

Anyway, it is with much excitement and enthusiasm (even at 3:25AM) that I share with you our newest arrival:

This morning (July 25th), we welcomed Madeline Darby Moore into the world at 1:12AM. She weighed 6lbs, 10oz.

You will eventually be able to see her photo at the following link (under parents Jason and Michele), although I’ll try to post some pictures at some point soon:

Thank you all for celebrating this incredible moment us.

Jason

EDIT: Finally added some photos.

Hey RP! This one’s for you……

For someone who works so hard for his family, his business, his church, all of us, and Jericho, you don’t get much of a break, do you?  Well, we’d like for that to change — if only a brief respite.  And that’s what we’re offering you, Jason.  Some rest and relaxation for a weekend with Mrs. RP in some place called Easton, where we’ve heard that you have spent a pleasant getaway weekend before.  We figured that, for all you do for us, it’s time that we do for you.

Sooooo….many, many Jericho Rangers who have supported the Save Jericho Again TV ad campaign in various ways are coming together tonight to say a collective “Thank you!” and to show you how much we appreciate the sacrifices we know you’ve made on behalf of us and our favorite show Jericho.

Please accept this gift put together especially for the Moore family as just a small token of gratitude from the entire membership of the Save Jericho Again team from around the world:

  • A gift certificate from Marriott Hotels
  • A gift certificate for Mrs. RP to Kohl’s (this is just for HER)
  • A gift certificate to Toys’R Us for your son and soon-to-arrive daughter (our card to the little Moores reads: “Thank you for letting us ‘borrow’ your daddy!”)
  • A gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse, which we hear is a fave of yours
  • A gift certificate to Barnes & Noble

Thank you for sharing your valuable time, incredible talents, and wonderful friendship with all of us.  You have helped build this ‘family,’ and we want to make sure that you know how much we appreciate it…..if we haven’t already!  You are a blessing to us and everyone else associated with Jericho.

Checked in with Carol Barbee - Things on the move again! 7-17-08

I know how anxious everyone is about what’s happening right now with Jericho. I’m right there with you.

I checked in with Carol, and she told me that some of the members of the Jericho team had been out of the country and have just gotten back into town. In fact, they had a little impromptu meeting in the hallway to catch up on the Jericho front, and it sounds like things will start moving forward again fairly quickly.

While not a huge revelation, this confirms for me that things are still happening. With important team members out of the country, things probably slowed down a bit, but now they should start hopping again.

Thanks, Carol, for being so great to us and offering what you can!

Fancast Recognizes Rubberpoultry’s Work on the Save Jericho Again TV Ad

Because he won’t post it, I will.  Fancast’s Julia Diddy again takes an up-close, personal look at fans’ efforts to Save Jericho Again — this time, with an in-depth study of Rubberpoultry’s contributions and the thought process that went into creating the TV ad.

Julia is proving to be a wonderful friend to those of us who love Jericho.  And RP?  What can you say?  We are honored to have his work serve as the collective strong, proud, dedicated voice of the Jericho community.

Check out the article here

Digg it here.

Jason, from a professional standpoint, I think you are incredible.  From a personal standpoint, I think you are one of the finest, most decent people I have ever had the privilege to meet.  On behalf of the entire Jericho community, I thank you for representing us the way you have.

Julie/Welcome

CBS boards acting up

For many of us, CBS.com is the main place we stay plugged in to what’s happening on the Jericho front. While  a lot of fans seem to be unable to log in and or post, the fight is not over. It looks as if they’re having problems board-wide. I’ve got an e-mail out trying to see what’s going on.

At the suggestion of someone in the fandom, I’m setting up this blog entry as a place to check in for those who normally call CBS home.

Feel free to check in by commenting.

Brad Beyer checks in with SJA! 7-1-08

I think we’d all agree that Brad Beyer is pretty awesome for helping us get our message out by providing a voiceover for the TV ad (not to mention about a million other reasons). After checking out the site, and keeping up with all of our various efforts to get Jericho back into production, Brad wanted to send a quick note to the fans to encourage us as we wait for more on Jericho’s future. Here’s what he had to say:

“Love the website, love the billboard, love the commercial!  Thanks again everyone.  You are THE BEST FANS ever!”

—Brad Beyer

You’re the best Brad, and will always have a special place in our hearts here at SJA. Thank you for everything you’ve done for Jericho fans across the entire fandom.

Steve Scaia, Esai Morales, Alicia Coppola, Shoshannah Stern and Phil Palmer offer feedback on the campaign.

In the week or so after the spot was released, I received some reactions that I thought I’d share. It’s always nice to hear from cast and crew:

“RP…that’s DAMN fine work. Well done, once again! You all should be very proud with what you’ve done, no matter the outcome. Really impressive!”

Steve Scaia
Executive Story Editor/Producer

“Well done, Jason.
Let’s hope it works somehow.”

Esai Morales (from the set of Caprica)
Major Beck

“As we say in my family…HOLY CANOLI!
You all are unbelieveably wonderful to have put your time, money and passion into Jericho.
I am speechless actually.
I thank you very much.”

Love,
Alicia (Coppola)
Mimi Clark

“Fabulous! Congratulations! The billboard is up near my house! I love it!”

Shoshannah Stern
Bonnie Richmond

“Brad and I had a great time recording the VO for the Jericho commercial.  We both can’t believe and love what you and the fans  are doing.  Keep up the fight….you never know what may happen.”

Phil Palmer
Production Sound Mixer

This is yet another example of how amazing our extended Jericho family is. Thanks for continuing to fan our flames!

A message from Dan Shotz (6-28-08)

How many shows do you watch that you know the producers’ names? Probably not too many, and yet the majority of our people in this fandom know the names/faces of our producers, writers, and crew the way we do those with starring credits at the beginning of each episode.

One of the greatest things about the Jericho experience is the incredible interaction we have had with those who create the show. Dan Shotz has always been one of our greatest supporters, and he wanted to send us all a message about the campaign to save Jericho again.

Keep in mind as you read his words that Dan is up to his eyeballs in the development of Harper’s Island (a show we should give a chance). Here’s what he had to say:

The love and support for Jericho still amazes me every day. You guys have gone so above and beyond.  I personally stood by the billboard on Ventura and stared up at it so proud.  I watched Rubberpoultry’s perfectly designed commercial on the Discovery Channel, which is better than the actual content on the Discovery Channel. The blogs, the posts, the ads, the letters… thank you.

We miss making this show so much and are doing everything we can to bring it back.

Dan

Thanks, Dan, for always being so generous with your time when it comes to Jericho. We wish you much success in all of your endeavors, and we hope we will see the Jericho story being told again soon.

What say you all?
