trainermikepsk, you may be right. The best way would be to have the producers such as Jon Turteltaub anounce that he is looking for financing for Jericho and that may get alot of press and get alot of fans interested. I know it's not how they do it, but with the recession being the worst since the great depression, thinking out of the box may just work.

$10,000 for advertising is one thing... but even at $100,000 for an episode (which is extremely low), it would be tough to raise $1 mil for 10 episodes.

Yes, this is great news! I love this show and to see it in a movie especially with the same cast is really interesting. I am a late comer to this show for I have only discovered it at the end of December 2008. I bought the Season 1&2 DVDs and was instantly hooked.

I must tip my hat off to all of you for the advertising campaign. This was really exciting to see how a great fan base can some together and do something to help save good art. I do not want to put down CBS for it is a business and they have quarterly reports and profit margins to respect. This is the area that I see art and business conflict.

Most of the fans have tried to help through this advertising campaign to bring the show back and also the "Nuts" campaign. I was impressed! We have been helping the cause through the back end....meaning trying to promote the show after it has been produced. Which brings me to a suggestion that I would like to make. I am a memeber of several Jericho related sites and jay2cho from the Jericho Fan Community Website recomended that I comment and make my suggestion here.

So, here it goes. Why don't we gather all the fans around the world and have all of us donate money to sponser and pay for a 3rd season. There are many fans out there not just in the US but all over including Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and many others including France!!

The main idea is to gather this money for a 3rd season, but it can also be used for the movie. We would need the blessing of the executive producers and the studio in order to make it legit. It will be a huge task but if it is true that there are 10 million fans around the world who watch jericho, it would be a matter of getting the news out.

I figure if it's a question of money, why don't we get invovled in financing the making and production of the show. Then CBS or the CW will only have to concern themselves with getting their advertisers on board and it will be 100% profit for them.

What do you all think? Let's get your ideas and let's do it!

Thanks

I am very excited about this news! As long as Jake and Hawkins figure prominently in the story I can fully support expanding the story across the country. I also believe the movie would have the potential of bringing even more new fans to Jericho (especially of the "right" demographic) and could easily transition the show to a Season 3.

@trainermikepsk: Unlike Serenity, the Jerico movie probably won't replace season 3. At least it doesn't seem like it will from what I read.

NO NO NO! I love this show, but turning this into a feature... It will most likely not live up to the series. In effect it will not do justice to the story nor the work that all the fans have put in to trying to get the 'series' back on the air.

The best comparison I can give is Joss Whedon's series Firefly. It had some amazing characters and a great story line. The actors had an incredible chemistry. This series was canceled and the fans banded together to try to get it back on the air. Because of this, they were able to get a feature produced: Serenity.

That feature was good, and answered many questions and gave quite a few surprises to the fans. But it made me sick to my stomach because it compressed 5 seasons worth of story into the 2-hour feature. What an amazing series it could have been, and all leading up to the movie Serenity. All that backstory coming from the full run of a series that never was, would have made the movie that much better.

Jericho was always so appealing because you were looking to the lives of real people you could identify with dealing with a tough situation. The problems were believable and the story/characters were nicely fleshed out during the series... I feel that Jericho will lose that with a feature film. It will probably cram so much story into the feature that they won't be able to focus on the characters as much as a television series could.

I hope I am wrong, but I really don't think a feature will do the series justice. A few more seasons would definitely be a better choice for the franchise.
