Random Musings
And I AM amused:
- Received a couple of Save Jericho Again donations today, including one from James in Virginia with the notation “Because Jericho is a great show, and CBS is a bunch of idiots.” James, you made me laugh at the end of a very long day. I found further humor in the fact that you live on Spendthrift Court (what can I say? I’m EASILY amused, especially when I am as tired as today).
- The Chicago Sun-Times here wonders why any Jericho fan would spend their “fortunes” on a TV commercial for what it considers a lost cause. Fortunes? Really? It asked about fortunes??? Not an Oprah nor Trump among us, so I found the wording slightly humorous. But even funnier to me is the fact that the somewhat negative article features a link to our ad in its entirety — didn’t cost us a dime to share our TV ad with this major paper’s readership. Thanks, Sun-Times! Best advertising money can’t buy.
- I’m hearing that viewership for the pilot episode of Jericho was up 80% over what The CW aired the week before. I worked late tonight, and I’m still trying to catch up on the facts behind that one. We didn’t post the greatest of numbers ratings-wise, but, apparently, it was still a smack-down over previously offered CW fare.
- I was asked just today about how much cooking I do personally. To which I chuckled — I cook all the time, if there’s a microwave handy. I can whip up some great Hamburger Helper or healthy Lean Cuisine with the best of ‘em. Fortunately, we have some better cooks out there in Jericho Land, including folks like Executive Producer Carol Barbee and writer/producer Jon Steinberg, who are contributing to a Jericho Ranger cookbook, whose proceeds will benefit children of American military members killed while serving in action. If you’ve got something better to offer than Julie-style Hamburger Helper or other ‘nuke-ables,’ and you want to help a great cause, please e-mail those recipies to jr4otcookbook@hotmail.com. Last day to have your recipe and your name accompany the likes of Carol and Jon is December 15th!
- Finally, Jericho’s 1-2 punch…or, at least, the 2…is on a two-day delay. UHD, scheduled to begin airing the SJA spot on Monday (12/1), notified us today that the ads will actually begin on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd (since it’s now 2:13 a.m., I guess that’s today). So, for Wednesday, December 3rd, look for our ad at 8:35 a.m., 9:40 a.m., 10:39 a.m., 11:19 a.m., and 2:42 p.m.; on Thursday, December 4th, it will air at 9:50 a.m., 10:48 a.m., 2:16 p.m., 5:16 p.m., and 5:49 p.m.; and, on Friday, December 5th, find it at 9:22 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 1:16 p.m., 2:05 p.m., and 2:35 p.m. This weekend, you can find the ad airing on Saturday, December 6th at 7:36 p.m., 8:29 p.m., and 10:18 p.m., and on Sunday, December 7th, at 7:18 p.m., 10:13 p.m., and 10:49 p.m. Let us know that you see it! I don’t have UHD available in my area, so I’m having to depend on your eyes and ears to live vicariously through you.
Maybe much to your amusement, my musing is over. Have a great one, and let us know when you catch us on UHD!

Oh, and I am right there with you on the Hamburger helper issue. I thought that was Haute Cuisine, and now you went and burst my bubble!

Oh Miss Ky! You are indeed Haute…..if it’s edible and heatable, it’s haute as it comes. Glad you and Scoo were amused. Even if not funny to the public at large, I have the ability to, at least, amuse myself in Julie’s World.

Well…at least there’s 3 of us in Julie’s World now. Oh Lord…does that mean we’re 3’s company?

Random musing of my own.
Jules is very amusing when worn out after a long, hard day.
Thanks for the info and the entertainment. Now go get some rest, girl; you work entirely too hard!!!

My husband and I just found Jericho. We watched half of the first season in one night. We tried to pace ourselves because we knew that we were going to be really upset when we were finished with the series. We also got hooked on Firefly and we all know how that great show turned out. We are also fans of Boston Legal and in the last episode the firm is suing a network company because they don’t have any shows on TV that seniors are interested in watching. Perhaps this could work for us. Sue the networks for not playing quality TV shows.
As I was reading all of the comments on this site my first thought was, “Geez, it’s just a TV show.” But then I started thinking about the fact that TV shows are more than that; they represent the tradition of story telling that has dated back to the very first days of this Earth. And I have to say that if shows like The CW, Survivor, and reruns of Golden Girls is all we have to contribute to the rich tradition that is story telling then we aren’t doing the craft justice.

sorry, it’s 2:30am and I just finished watching the rest of Jericho. In my last post I didn’t mean to say, “Shows like The CW”. I meant to say, “Shows like The OC.”

Hi Artsee83, great to see ya here and to know that you’re a Jericho fan. You are so right about Jericho (and other shows) being more than just a TV show.
Jericho represented so much from human decency to the values and principles of our founding fathers to the meaning of unity in community.

I thought this was pretty funny:
http://www.tv.com/story/11342.html
“If people fought for causes the way Jericho fans have fought for their favorite show, there would be world peace, no climate crisis, and smiles on the faces of children everywhere.”

I think that is one of the most awesome things that anyone has ever said about us Jericho fans. Thank you so much for sharing that here.
