A message from Jericho writer Robbie Thompson (Writer Episode 18 “A.K.A.”)

Robbie Thompson is a name many of us may not know, although he worked on both seasons of Jericho in the writer’s room. Over the last month plus, I’ve gotten to know Robbie, and like so many others in the Jericho family, he’s an amazing guy.

Robbie started out as a writers’ assistant, and on Episode 18 (AKA), Carol Barbee gave him the reins to craft the story. This episode showed us Robert and Darcy Hawkins in love, the beginning of Jake’s and Hawkins’ relationship in those intense scenes in the basement, and who could forget Mimi and the chicken?

Robbie was kind enough to donate a signed script (which also includes signatures from Jon Steinberg, Matt Federman, and Steve Scaia) for the effort to raise funds to get the ad back on the air. He also wanted to share a few words with everyone:

“Hey, Robbie Thompson here. I just wanted to say thank you all for everything you’ve done for Jericho. I’m so proud to be a part of this show’s legacy - a legacy that simply would not exist without your creativity, hard work and belief in the show. You made television history - twice! First by bringing the show back from the dead, and again by creating the first ever fan created television ad. I’m just blown away by the quality and craftsmanship of the work Jason did on the ad, and I hope auctioning off this signed copy of Episode 18, “A.K.A.” will help raise the necessary funds to get your amazing ad back on the air and keep the fight to save Jericho alive. Thanks again, Robbie Thompson”

Thanks, Robbie. We appreciate all that you’ve done for Jericho and its fans!

Your continued involvement certainly shows how much the show and the fans mean to you all. The legacy of this show would not exist without that as well.

Robbie, thank you for your contributions to Jericho. There are some truly memorable moments in Ep. 18. You helped make the show what it was, and what we hope it will continue to be. Thank you for your efforts, and thank you for the donation of the script. That is awesome.

Hi Robbie! Thank you so much for your work for Jericho. “AKA” is one of my personal favorites as it combines humor with intensity. The two are at opposite ends of the spectrum in emotions. But you’ve linked them seamlessly in the script and chose the actors best able to express the story you told. I, too, look forward to seeing more of your work in the future on Season 3. And, if you get opportunity to do so - stop by here or contact RP or Shaun O’Mac and let us know any other work you are writing in the future until Jericho’s return (what show, when, what network) so we might follow a career that no doubt will be award-winning! Thanks again…

Hello Robbie, and thanks so much for the wonderful gift you’ve provided in the effort to get Jason’s awesome commercial back on the air. AKA was one of my favorite episodes of Jericho, although I love them all, of course. The scenes between Jake and Hawkins in his basement, as well as Mimi and the chicken, will be with me forever. Everyone in the Jericho family deserves to come back to finish the Jericho story, and we will continue this effort until it’s back on the air, in a movie theater, or both. So, congrats on an amazing script, and thanks for your support.

Robbie, as long as I live, I will aways remember Mimi and the chicken! Those scenes touched the hearts of all we animal lovers out there who wonder what we’d do in a similar situation.

I wish you hadn’t donated that particular script…I can’t afford it, but I can’t resist the temptation of bidding on it, either.

Robbie, thanks for donating the script to help raise funds for the commercial. I loved episode 18. We just watched it again as a group. The balance of humor and suspense in that episode was perfect. You had me laughing out loud and then biting my nails. I hope that you get to write many more episodes of Jericho.

Thank you for bringing us such a wonderful story in AKA. I agree with everyone else. I will never forget Mimi and the chicken scene. It was just the right amount of humor needed to relieve the intensity of the scenes with Jake and Hawkins. You did an excellent job, as did everyone connected to the show. Thank you for donating the script to help our efforts. I can’t afford to bid, but I am sure there are plenty who will have quite the bidding war over it. We hope to have you working on season 3 very soon!!!

Anyone who had a hand in writing Mimi and the chicken has won my heart already. Now, I’ll have to watch for “Robbie Thompson” in the writers’ credits when I’m watching shows. Thank you for your kind words and for your help in keeping Jericho alive.

Thank you, Robbie, for all your hard work, along with the other writers. We hope to put you guys back to work writing quality episodes of Jericho. AKA was great! Some of us feel that we are not only ‘Rangers,’ But citizens of Jericho, KS. And we are here to stay until someone rebuilds our town!
Again, thanks to RP for staying in touch with staff and crew to build our spirits. We maybe are the “NUTTIEST” fans in history, but without the quality of cast and crew of Jericho, we wouldn’t be here.
    Respectfully yours,

So, you’re the guy that FINALLY told us Robert’s story! Thank you for that and for telling it the way you did. You tortured us, and I loved it!

The Mimi with chicken scenes were priceless. I especially liked when Mimi cleaned her nails with the axe - OMG, too funny! And let us not forget the touching scene with out dear departed Bonnie.

I look forward to seeing your work again. I’m sure I shall be just as entertained as I was in AKA. Thank you.

Thanks for writing this episode, and thanks for donating the script (Gotta start digging through the car and the couch cushions for money to bid with on this script).

Thanks for your donation of the autographed script. AKA was such a terrific episode. Mimi and the chicken just could not be topped! Great people like you who worked on Jericho behind the scenes and in front of the camera is just why this show means so much to us. You put your all into something that has made a lasting memory for millions, and we are so hoping for many, many more memories to be made! We want our show back, and that is “why we fight.”

The scenes with Mimi and the chicken were so funny. But the best part of AKA was watching Jake and Hawkins trying to figure each other out. I loved that part. Thanks, Robbie, for all you do. Jericho has brought many people together, and I’m proud to have been a part of everything that has happened…and everything that will happen.

Robbie, thank you so much for all your work on the show and for donating the AKA script towards the TV ad. The entire production team and crew, actors, and writers have truly created something very different and special and something that will last many years into the future.

AKA is one of my favorite episodes, from Mimi talking to the chicken to the story arc where Jake and Hawkins’ relationship change as they are forced to trust one another, especially since both have worked alone for so many years, and they were forced to stand on uncommon ground.

I wish you well on all your future endeavors.
